YOU KILLED IT WITH I LOVE YOU

I had a dream on the weekend that I was hanging out with Lily Allen on a grassy knoll getting pissed on vino & making up lyrics to her future No 1 tunes together. She was in Australia for her promotional visit and I somehow wrangled a face to face meeting. After we got pissed together we were firm friends (as you do) and kept in touch.

For those with their head in the sand Lily Allen is The Shiznit. The Bomb. The female Mike Skinner apparently. I'll refrain from mentioning the 'thing' about who her dad may or may not be cos apparently she's a bit over seeing it written down.

She's also a gal after many a heart... when asked how she'd celebrate 'Smile' claiming the UK No 1 chart spot she replied decisively "with gak", she sold Pingers in Ibiza for a season when she was 15 and in recent NME interview she proclaimed her love of the horse tranquilizer Ketamine. Quite frankly she sounds like the kind of gal I could happily spend some serious hours partying & taking the piss out of others with so I'll say just this; "keep your calendar free when you you're here Lily. We'll paint the town red!"

Clearly one's obsession with an artist has reached all new levels when thoughts of parading around the landscape pissed together invade the dreamscape. No? it's normal? Yes, I thought so. Clearly, very, very normal.



Her music is honest, humorous & catchy. She's witty, scathing, and yet just a wee little bit on the insecure side (anyone that scathing is usually somewhat insecure, just ask me; I know). Incidentally - you can pick up her eyeshadows at the MAC counter if you're that way inclined.

For the last 8 months she's been bubbling under, building a fanbase through MySpace and this week her album 'Alright, Still' dropped in the UK and is expected to enter in the Top 5 on the Album Charts. I reckon it'll hit No 1.

Locally she's been getting some mid level rotation on triple j for her song L-D-N. This week Smile was added to the playlist for Nova FM, and August supposedly see's her rumoured promotional tour.

All the hype aside, this is a super talented gal who is combining pop, hip-hop and raggae into a new and eclectic formula that is hilarious at best and amusing at worst. Having worked closely with renowned producer Mark Ronson (we'll get to him soon in this blog, don't you worry) amongst others, Lily is clearly set to be a massive star.
