The Ronson Dossier

From my previous post , I've kinda felt prompted to continue with my story after dissatisfied comments from the one known as The Deliverator. It was probably one of those things that could keep you awake at night.. naa'meen?

Anyhoes..

From where I last left off, I mentioned Allido Records which was started by Ronson and Rich Kleiman, who is also his manager. The label is named after one of Ronson's favourite songs, from Stevie Wonder's ‘Hotter Than July’ (1980) album.

Their first signing of rapper Rhymefest led to his debut album 'Blue Collar' being released earlier this year. Also on the books is Melbourne-lad Daniel Merriweather, DJ Jus Ske and cute band, Domino.

Ronson has been busy behind the production scenes.. maybe you wouldn’t even know you’ve been listening to him all along? Releases like Lily Allen - 'Alright, Still', Christina Aguilera – 'Back to Basics', Amy Winehouse – 'Back to Black' and Robbie Williams – 'Rudebox'. You really cant miss the trademark horns.. usually assisted by the fellaz from The Dap Kings.

His release earlier this year of "Just", a Radiohead cover with Alex Greenwald that features on 'Exit Music: Song with Radio Heads' with a whole lotta other covers. The track is also included on Ronson’s upcoming album, 'Versions' (which is gonna drop any.. second.) along with Lily Allen's cover of the Kaiser Chief’s "Oh My God", Britney Spears "Toxic", Coldplay’s "God Put a Smile on my Face" and Daniel Merriweather doing The Smiths classic "Stop Me If You Think That You’ve Heard This One".

In the meantime, get to know him from his Authentic Shit show on East Village Radio (although his show is turning a little ‘East Village Rave-io’ of late). He plays a lot of his productions (and sometimes talks all over them with shout-outs to stop the bootleggers) and other stuff that’s doin thangs for him. And pick up the show before it too: The Let Out with The Fader Crew. So much goodness with Nick Catchdubs.

So that’s the history lesson. Tried to keep it short(er) and less stalker-ish. As a graduation present.. a remix from Air’s EP release, ‘Surfing On A Rocket’ featuring Rhymefest.

Air – Alpha Beta Gaga (Mark Ronson Vocal Remix)
