Get Your African Techno Rave On

Upon my random scouring of interweb things, I've come across a style of music they call Kuduro.

It comes from Angola (which is a country in Africa - you cant get there by bus). Its likened much to baile funk in the sense that they sing/rhyme/scream in portugese. The name literally means "hard ass". Its like an electronic hiphop slash ragga slash techno. Its a bit crazy.. and probably not the best listened to on a home computer after dinner time.

I read this quote from Tony Amada (who is basically the grand-daddy of Kuduro) that his original aim was to integrate “the movements of jean-claude van damme” into his music. Haha!

Its a dance move too. The one where the chick kinda leans over and sticks her ass out and thrusts it to the beat. You know what I'm talking about. I bet you all tried it.

Check out the tunes on Buraka som Sistema's myspeez. Are they really to kuduro what Diplo is to baile funk?

Some other names to keep an eye on (which are sooo cool and underground that I cant even google much on them!): Frederic Galliano, Wakimono, Manya, Dog Murras, Costelinha, Keima Bilhas, Xico viegas, Helder Rei Do Kuduro.

I've found some examples.. but if you're smart enough, you'll know how to look for them.

In the meantime.. I found this mix from
Paul Devro. If you liked Modjo's 'Lady' (hear me tooniiight.. coz my feeelin's.. is just so right!).. THIS is a baile funk version.
