Two great acts at the moment are the much touted Infadels and Metronomy - both of whom are products of the New Wave revolt. A revolt in which rock and electronica are mixed together into a potent new sonic eargasm.
This sonic revolt is happening right across the world - in NYC, London, Barcelona, and even in Berlin where minimal has previously been tops. In Australia it's producers such as Riot in Belgium, The Bumblebeez, and Grafton Primary whom are best leading the charge. Overseas it's two acts Metronomy & The Infadels who strongly represent this new wave of music.
The Infadels are a band that is unable to pigeon-holed. They fuse a mixture of funk and rock into an entirely new sound and scream it loud to their fans. There's a rawness and an anger bubbling away under their sound that is reminscient of the Sex Pistols in their hey day and their live show takes on a hugely chaotic edge.
Their full length album, 'We Are Not The Infadels' was released this year to strong reviews and they're been described as "Just imagine that A.R.E. Weapons decide to really make a dance record and you'd have the Infadels!". They're here to turn your preconceptions of rock & dance inside out - get with The Infadels program now.

Metronomy is an act that's still bubbling under and yet is definitely tipped for far greater things. His music is a mixture of the melodic bleeps & beeps of minimal mixed with the rock & electronica of the New Rave.
Metronomy (AKA Joseph Mount) uses an out-dated computer courteousy of his Dad and writes, performs & produces his own music; the songs of "a disillusioned rock ‘n’ roll drummer from the Devonshire hills". Following a move to Brighton he has steadily building up a strong fanbase based on his reputation for a unique live show, some of which are performed solo and sometimes with his back band - The Food Groups.
His debut cult album “Pip Paine (Pay the £5000 you owe)” followed the massive underground tune; the wonderfully produced, ‘You could easily have me’. Released as a limited edition run of 500 pressings it was available in a green book-style case. Copies - when found - on Ebay are renowned to sell in the 100 pound mark.
Metronomy is an artist that is both familiar and fresh. With support from Zane Lowe, Rob da Bank and being cited as 'this years Mylo' the short term certainly looks bright for this buzz artist with a distinctive production sound rich in melody, electro-pop-sensibility and rocking riffs.
