SMORGASBOARD

An apt first post really, as the title of the artist album below and my intentions for the music content of this blog are quite similiar really. ;)

smor·gas·bord
( P ) Pronunciation Key (smôrgs-bôrd, -brd)n.
1. A buffet meal featuring a varied number of dishes.
2. A varied collection: “a smorgasbord of fashionable paranormal beliefs” (Martin Gardner).

So without further ado, lets get blogging.

IDJ named him 'One of the 100 reasons dance music still rules" - IDJ and Mixmag call him "The remixers' remixer", whilst DJ Mag just tell it like they see it in their electronica crystal ball; "[He] Will be one of the main players of 2006".

Mike Monday's new artist album 'Smorgasbord' is about to drop (first week of September). It's a mixture of cheery electronica, and dark & dirty jackin house sounds. It features earlier released 12"tracks 'What day is it' as well as 'Tooting Warrior'. The stand out track though is Ode to Jack, a melodic, thumping, twisted techno monster hugely reminiscient of Tiefschwarz.

Playtime, Mike Monday's only worldwide residency turns 4 on July 28. If you're in London you should definitely go along and check it out. Didn't you know? It's the night that whacks you on the arse with the racing post and calls you princess! Previous guests have included Abe Duque to D'Julz, Tim Sheridan to the Dirt Crew, Sancho Panza to Mugwump - and the birthday bonanza leaves no stone unturned with sets from A Guy Called Gerald (live), playtime favourite David Duriez, Mike Monday, Big Daddy, Nathan G & Bish. And if you can't handle the pace on the dancefloor there's capers & japers in the courtyard.
