I'M A HUSTLER BABY, THAT'S WHAT MY DADDY'S MADE ME...

Simian Mobile Disco absolutely kill it as far as I'm concerned, and this (reasonably) new track of theirs 'Hustler' has fast become an I-tunes staple for me.

What started as "an electronically enhanced psychedelic folk band from England" under the name Simian, two albums later disolved into a DJ/ production duo as two lads from the band (James Ford and Jas Shaw) fast become known as the finest purveyors of rave. With DJ sets known for their eclecticness and production renowned for it's dance floor destroying capabilities there's no floor fillers here.

It's ironic that in 2002, after the release of 'Simian' record no 2 We Are Your Friends, which included the current club remix of the title song that just won't die Justice Vs Simian - Never Be Alone, the band went their separate ways. The remix is now bordering on becoming a household name and would have been sure to catapault the band to further success.

James and Jas however, continuted to make music, remixing tunes by The Presets, James producing for Clor and Test Icicles, as well as putting out their own tunes such as Pulse. Their debut album is (hopefully) due to drop sooner rather than later and is likely to be available through Modular locally.

To sum it up, Simian Mobile Disco leave others for dead. The track Hustler is available through Kitsune and is available for download here for 7 days only. It features Char Johnson on vocals and is an jackin piece of electro pop somewhat reminscient of Blackstrobe at their best.
